MARCH 2010 NEWS
Well, better late than never for an update on our news page:
The last quarter of the year sees us doing the wine show rounds, commencing with a very enjoyable Clare Valley Wine Show, the awards were dominated by Crabtree Wines who collected 7 trophies. The 2009 Hilltop Riesling collected 4 trophies alone, so well done to the Crabtree team. Prowine sponsored the Best Exhibition Section Dry Riesling 2007 and older and this award was taken out by O’Leary Walker with the 2005 Watervale Riesling. This wine was served with lunch and was stunning.
Next was the long drive down to the Coonawarra where the Naracoorte Town Hall was beautifully decorated for a Caledonian themed dinner including a heart starting whisky at the beginning of the dinner and followed up with Haggis, a first time for everything! We sponsor the Most Successful Exhibitor award at this show and congratulations to Wynns Coonawarra Estate.
Everybody loves a chance to dress up and the Barossa Valley Wine show does not disappoint, with the dress code being black-tie you have a chance to see how well the wine set can scrub up, however not necessarily minus the grape stained hands... The night saw some simply stunning wines on offer accompanied by a mouth watering meal prepared by Elli Beer, and if you were up for an encore performance it was off to the Tanunda Hotel to kick up the heels, apparently there were some sore heads the next day. Well done to Peter Lehmann Wines who won the “Best Dry White – Semillon section – class 3”, sponsored by Prowine.
The Adelaide Hills Wine Show held on Friday 20th November provided a great opportunity for the region to showcase its best wines and cuisine. Prowine sponsored and presented the trophy for the “Best Chardonnay”, congratulations go to Pike & Joyce. The event was well organised and attended with some great wines being presented with lunch. This year’s luncheon was held at Mount Lofty House, a truly beautiful venue and an icon of the Adelaide Hills.
These wine shows provide an opportunity for the various companies involved to network and catch up on the industry news and gossip in a relaxed and informal atmosphere away from the office.
I am looking forward already to the round of wine shows in 2010.
Here at Prowine we have some exciting developments underway in terms of relocation of our existing filling lines that we will update you on in our next newsletter, until then, feel free to contact us for any bottling requirements.
Cheers
Marion
