Wine Show Sponsorship 2010
Prowine, being an active sponsor of the South Australian Wine Show curcuit reports on our sponsorship of the 2010 Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Limestone Coast and Adelaide Hills Wine Shows.
November 2010
Welcome to our new look website. We sincerely hope you enjoy the new look and easy to navigate format.
While the new site was being developed we have enjoyed a busy period at Prowine with much to write about.
Barossa Wine Show 2010
There are the odd occasions at wine shows that you are asked repeatedly to applaud for and place your nose in the same glass of wine for a succession of trophies. In this case it couldn't have happened to a nicer gentleman. Mr. Peter Scholz / Willows Vineyard wore a well beaten trail to the award podium an unbelievable 5 times for his 2010 The Willows Vineyard Riesling including 'Most Outstanding Single Vineyard Table Wine & Most Outstanding Table Wine sections. His 2006 The Willows Vineyard Semillon attracted the Prowine sponsored trophy for Best Dry White Semillon. Coincidentally, both wines were caringly packaged by us at Prowine. I believe Cellar Door renovations are currently taking place to make room for said trophies.
A spectacular event as always with another wine bottled by us – The 2008 Naked Run BWC Shiraz, picking up the trophy for Best Young Dry Red - Shiraz Class.
Clare Wine Show 2010
2010 saw a change in venue for this iconic wine show, traditionally held in what is affectionately known as the 'chook shed' at the Clare Show Grounds. The rustic surrounds were traded for the more elegant dining room at the Clare Sports Centre. Carpet under foot and air conditioning seemed to be a favourable change for most and an apt one with His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, the Governor of South Australia in attendance.
The Prowine sponsored trophy of Best Exhibition Section Dry Riesling 2008 or Older, went to Kilikanoon Wines Morts Reserve Watervale Riesling 2004.
Limestome Coast Wine Show 2010
This year the presentation dinner was held in the barrel hall at Norfolk Rise Winery with an aptly suited nautical theme. Buses converged upon the winery from all reaches of the Coonawarra, Limestone Coast and surrounding wine regions with elegantly attired guests eager to enjoy the evening's festivities and sumptuous 5 course meal that followed.
Lindermans took home the majority of the trophys with 4 in total. Steve had the pleasure of presenting Sarah Pigeon from Wynns Coonawarra Estate the Prowine sponsored trophy for Most Successful Exhibitor.
I am looking forward to the upcoming Adelaide Hills Regional Wine Show next week that Marion and I will attend, while Steve and some of the Prowine staff will attend the Variety Club Vintage wine auction at the National Wine Centre. I look forward to updating you on both events in the next news letter. Until then keep enjoying the fruits of 'our' (collective) labour,
Neil Oram
